Santa Clara Valley T-Birds
The Santa Clara Valley Thunderbirds (SCVT) were founded in 1972 to provide a focal point for “Early Birdâ€ owners who wished to further their enjoyment of ownership of the 1955 – 1957 Thunderbirds. This fellowship has been fostered through the years and has culminated in an active membership of over 100 families who use their TBirds in over 40 club-sponsored function each year. These include parades, high school homecomings, driving tours, including overnighters, and displays. We are also Chapter 50 of the Classic Thunderbird Club International, CTCI, and are one of the largest in the country. We are a very social club and include activities for both genders. One of the sayings of our club is that most of our activities revolve around eating and shopping!
Even though the Club is headquartered in the San Jose area we have members from all over the Bay Area, and beyond, including Redding, Sonora and Modesto. Interest in Classic Thunderbirds is of prime importance, not the condition of the Thunderbird, or the fact that you may not yet be an owner of one. Club members are very knowledgeable and capable in repair/restoration and are always enthusiastic to help. Most of our cars are “driversâ€, though some are capable of capturing awards at local Concours d’ Elegance events. The Club is an excellent source of information for anyone looking for their first Thunderbird. In fact we have a couple of members that are looking for their first TBird.
