Fort Lauderdale Mustang Club

Non-profit car club, dedicated to the restoration and admiration of the Ford Mustang. The Club began around 1981 with a few guys meeting at Koon's Ford in Hollywood each week to talk about their beloved cars. Larry Hurst was the first President of the club. As time went on the meetings changed from weekly to monthly. Moved from Koon's Ford to a waiting area at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport near the control tower, then to Mustang Classics, then to Joe's Belair Restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale where the club began holding car shows. These shows attracted 100's of cars every month with full judging of classes. The last show held at Joe's Belair was on January 25, 1992. During this same period of time the club also held a monthly show to benefit the Humane Society of Broward County. There was a span of time when the club hosted shows at the Hot Dog Ranch in Hallandale, Florida. The club eventually moved to the POA Hall in Davie, and finally to our present location Maroone Ford of Fort Lauderdale on US1. The club began as a tech talk meeting among the "guys". We are now happy to report that our membership includes all spouses or significant others as well as many women enthusiasts. The club is still "techy" in many ways and we have also become very community service oriented with our car show supporting the Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center here in Fort Lauderdale.
